F-Gas means fluorinated gas. These are gases containing fluorine, commonly used as refrigerants in air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
In vehicle air conditioning, F-Gas regulations make it a legal requirement for Technicians that recover or recharge systems that contain Fluorinated gas to be trained & certified.

Disposable diy cannisters of refrigerant can prove to be damaging to your AC System.
Due to refrigerant sales being restricted (by law) to certified technicians, the chemicals in cannisters sold over the counter are not what one might believe, although these cannisters claim to be e.g r134a it is actually an unregulated substitute and can be harmful to your system.
Any system that requires a re-gas should be leak tested.
Refrigerant is very different to the fuel in your car in that, the levels does not reduce the further you drive, some well known vehicle service center's will re-gas your system without detecting and repairing the leak, by doing this they risk prosecution as, regassing a leaky system is knowingly releasing refrigerant into the atmosphere which is an offence, this carries a hefty £200,000 fine.

To truly disinfect your vehicles AC System chemicals should be entered into the top & bottom of the evaporator. Several major service center's claim to clean your system when in actual fact, they place a can of mist sanitiser (known as an Odour Bomb) in your vehicle which only cleans surface areas and masks the real issue which will return within weeks.
